Accessibility
What AubeActu does to be readable by everyone, why it publishes no RGAA compliance statement, and how to tell us about a problem.
The legal framework
The accessibility obligation of article 47 of French law no. 2005-102 of 11 February 2005 and decree no. 2019-768 covers public bodies, organisations entrusted with a public service mission, and companies with a turnover of 250 million euros or more. AubeActu falls within none of these categories: it is therefore not bound by the French general accessibility framework (RGAA) and publishes no compliance statement.
No accessibility audit has been carried out so far. We therefore announce no compliance rate: a figure that has not been measured is not information.
The rules we apply
A local newspaper that its visually impaired or motor-impaired readers cannot read misses its purpose. These are the rules every page is built with. They are rules of construction, not a measured result: with one exception, none of them has been verified by an audit, so none is presented here as an established state of the site.
- aiming for a contrast of 4.5:1 on body text and 3:1 on large text and interface components;
- making every path doable with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator;
- asking for a text alternative on every image that carries information;
- keeping a consistent heading structure, with a single top-level heading per page;
- attaching an explicit label to every form field;
- declaring the page language in the code;
- never letting colour alone carry a piece of information;
- placing a skip link to the main content at the top of the page;
- writing reading pages so that an article stays readable without JavaScript.
The exception: two of these rules are checked by the test suite on every delivery, on the home page, an article, an event page and a legal page — a single top-level heading per page, and a text alternative present on every image. The rest rests on review, not on measurement: if you find the opposite of what is written here, this page is what is wrong, and we want to hear about it.
Documents published by third parties and reproduced as they are — municipal orders, PDF newsletters — and embedded external content are outside our control. When such a document carries essential information, we publish a text version of it.
Telling us about a problem
If you cannot access a piece of content or a feature, tell us: contact@aubeactu.fr, or through the reporting form, choosing the "accessibility" reason. Give the page concerned, what you were trying to do and the equipment or software you use. We will answer, and send you the content in an accessible format where we can.
If you consider yourself the victim of discrimination, the French Defender of Rights can be contacted online at defenseurdesdroits.fr.
