About us
A free local newspaper covering all 431 municipalities of the Aube. Where it comes from, how it works, how it is funded.
The newspaper
AubeActu is a local news outlet devoted to the Aube department of France: Troyes, the towns of the department and the 431 municipalities that make it up, from Villenauxe-la-Grande to Les Riceys. It covers municipal affairs, crime, justice, local business, sport, culture, events and the flea markets that fill the region's weekends.
It is published by Adnan TOURAK EI, entrepreneur individuel, trading as Tourak Digital, 5 rue Michelet, 10000 Troyes. Its publication director is Adnan TOURAK.
What sets it apart
- Free, with no paywall. No article is reserved, no counter limits reading, no account is required to read.
- One page per municipality. All 431 municipalities of the Aube have their own page: news, town hall, contact details, neighbouring villages. None is treated as too small to matter.
- Sources cited. Every article publishes its sources and the links that let you check them.
- No automated publishing. News feeds inform the newsroom; they never publish in its place.
- Bilingual. The site exists in French at aubeactu.fr and in English at aubeactu.com, for English-speaking residents and visitors.
How we work
A piece of information is verified before publication, with two independent sources or one consultable primary source. We do not reproduce a colleague's work: we take the information, check it, rewrite it and credit the source with a link. Our full rules are published in the editorial charter.
We correct our mistakes visibly, at the foot of the article, with the date and the nature of the correction. The procedure is set out on the Corrections page.
Who writes
Every article is signed: by the newsroom, or by the volunteer correspondent who wrote it, and every byline links to a page. Newsroom members are listed on the Newsroom page, and the publisher's identity on the Masthead page.
Volunteer contributors accept a contributor charter setting out their commitments and their rights, in particular over their texts and photographs.
How the newspaper is funded
AubeActu lives neither on subscriptions, which do not exist, nor on targeted advertising, which it refuses. Who owns and funds it is published on the Masthead page, naming any funder accounting for more than 5 % of annual resources. The rules governing paid content are on the Advertising page.
