Cookies and trackers
No non-essential tracker is set before you agree. Exact inventory of cookies, by category, and how to change your mind.
Article 82 of the French law of 6 January 1978 prohibits setting or reading a non-essential tracker without the prior consent of the person concerned. Continuing to browse, scrolling a page or doing nothing never amounts to consent.
On AubeActu that rule takes a deliberately strict form: there is no advertising network, no social media pixel and no third-party tracker loaded by default. The only possible third-party cookies come from external content embedded in an article — a video, a social media post — and that content loads only after you act, item by item.
Changing your mind
The Manage external content link, present in the footer of every page, shows your current choices and clears them in one click. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it; that is a requirement of CNIL deliberation no. 2020-091, not a courtesy.
Your choices are kept for six months. After that we ask again. The proof of your choice — its date, its scope and the version of this policy — is kept for the same period, and your IP address is never stored in clear: only an irreversible fingerprint of it is retained.
Strictly necessary
These trackers are essential to the operation of the site. They are not subject to consent under article 82 of the French law of 6 January 1978.

Exempt audience measurement
The counting is done by the newspaper's own server: no cookie, no script in your browser, no third party other than the website host. No IP address is kept, not even truncated. It meets the conditions of the CNIL consent exemption (deliberation no. 2020-091); you may still object to it by writing to the address given on the Privacy page.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Issued by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Internal counter, no cookie | Counting pages read, day by day: date, domain, page address, item concerned, device category, the site you came from (its domain only), and a daily fingerprint computed without keeping anything of your IP address. The seed used for the computation is drawn at random each day and destroyed after 2 days: nobody, us included, can link two days together. | Detail 180 days, daily totals 25 months | The newspaper's server (hosted in France) |
| No cookie set | Anonymous count of pages viewed | 180 days | stats.aubeactu.fr |
Opt out of being counted
Audience measurement does not need your consent: it sets no cookie, truncates your IP address, cross-references it with nothing, and erases its data after thirteen months. You can still opt out — the box below is enough, and your choice stays on this device only.
If your browser sends the Do Not Track signal, you are already not counted, with nothing to do here.
External content
These platforms set trackers as soon as one of their items loads. Nothing loads until you click the button on the placeholder concerned.
