Legal information
Report content
Report an article, a comment or an image you consider unlawful. Handled promptly for manifestly unlawful content, as a rule within 24 working hours otherwise.
What this form is for
It lets you tell us about content you consider unlawful: a comment, an article, a photograph, a tribute or a listing. This is the notice and action mechanism required by article 16 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 on digital services.
Choosing the right route
- Unlawful content — hatred, defamation, a third party's personal data, copyright infringement: this form.
- A factual error in an article: the Corrections page.
- You are named or identified and want to publish a reply: the right of reply.
- You want information about you anonymised or de-indexed: the removal request.
- An accessibility problem: the Accessibility page.
What your report must contain
For the notice to produce its legal effects it must state your identity, the precise location of the content — its exact address —, the grounds on which you consider it unlawful, and a statement that you believe in good faith that what you assert is accurate. An incomplete report is still examined, but it does not start the time limits set by law.
What happens next
- You receive a timestamped acknowledgement.
- The newsroom reviews the content: promptly if it is manifestly unlawful, as a rule within twenty-four working hours otherwise.
- The decision is entered in a timestamped moderation log.
- You are told the outcome, including a refusal, with its reasons.
- If the content is removed, its author receives a statement of reasons and the available remedies.
Abusive reporting
A manifestly unfounded, repeated report is set aside. Reporting content known to be lawful for the sole purpose of having it taken down may engage the reporter's liability: article 6, VII of the LCEN punishes presenting content as unlawful in order to have it withdrawn, knowing that information to be inaccurate, with one year's imprisonment and a €15,000 fine.
